Man Returning From Car Show Killed After 1967 Convertible Overturns On Hudson Valley Roadway
A Hudson Valley man coming home from a car show in his 1967 Chevy convertible was killed after hitting a guard rail.
The crash took place in Orange County around 9:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 21, in the town of Goshen on Route 94.
According to Deputy Chief Allen Faust, of the Goshen Police, John Smith, age 52, of the Village of Florida, veered off the roadway, hit a guard rail, and then an earth embankment before flipping over.
Smith was trapped in the vehicle and was extricated by the town of Goshen Fire Department, Faust said.

Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Will Once Again Come From Hudson Valley

For the second time in as many years, the famous Rockefeller Christmas tree is coming from the Hudson Valley.
The center announced on Instagram on Monday, Oct. 21, that this year's twinkling giant of a tree is a Norway spruce that hails from the Village of Florida in Orange County.
Although they haven't released the details on the tree's height and owners, the center did say the tree will be cut down on Thursday, Nov. 7, and will arrive by truck at Rockefeller Center on Saturday, Nov. 9.

Man, Woman Caught With 250 Bags Of Heroin After K-9 Search In Area
Two area residents were nabbed with 250 bags of heroin following a traffic stop in the village of Florida.
Steven Scalici, 23, of Warwick, and his passenger Tiffany Reed, 23, of Sparrowbush, were arrested Monday, May 6, after Warwick K9 Officer Kevin Halsey and Officer Keith Slesinski conducted a traffic stop on Route 94 for several traffic violations, said Warwick Police Lt. Thomas Maslanka.
After interviewing Scalici and Reed, the officers received consent to search the vehicle, Maslanka said.

Man Accused Of Stealing $43,000 From Area Employer
An area man is behind bars after allegedly stealing $43,000 from his employer last year, state police said.
Christopher W. Dunn, 32, of Newburgh, was arrested Friday, April 12, and charged with the grand larceny and two counts of issuing a bad check, said Trooper Steven Nevel.
In addition, Dunn had outstanding warrants from the Village of Florida Police Department and the State Police in Fonda, for Issuing a bad check and grand larceny, he added.
