Storm Ida: NY Thruway Reopens The New York State Thruway has reopened after immense flooding from Storm Ida closed down the busy roadway for hours through the Hudson Valley. As of 2 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 2, the Thruway Authority announced that all lanes are now open on I-87 south between exit 14 and exit 12.  Two lanes are open northbound - the right lane remains closed at exit 12 due to flooding.  Delays exist from ponding water and traffic. The roadway had been closed for hours in Rockland and Westchester County due to heavy flooding. State Police say motorists should use caution.

Serious Crash Causes I-84 Closure A busy stretch of I-84 is closed during the height of the morning commute after a serious crash in Connecticut. The closure is in both directions after the crash involving a rolled-over tractor-trailer happened on the eastbound side just before 8 a.m. Tuesday, March 30 in Northern Fairfield County near Exit 13. Connecticut State Police said the crash led to a large fuel spill.  Eastbound traffic is being detoured to local streets at Exit 11. Motorists are being advised to use alternate routes if possible. Tanker Truck Fire Breaks Out Near High School In Northern Westchester An oil tanker fire tied up traffic for several hours near an area high school. The oil tanker caught fire at approximately 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11 on South Highland Avenue in Ossining near the high school, officials said. The incident caused severe traffic problems on Route 9A and in the surrounding areas. Police said that the fire caused traffic diversions between Main Street and Walker Avenue. The incident happened in East Fishkill at milepost marker 57, between Exit 58 (Ludingtonville Road) and Exit 52 (the Taconic State Parkway) just before 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1. Traffic was reported to be backed up three to four miles. The tractor-trailer was removed just after 5 p.m. There are residual delays in the area.
