Fire and EMS battled a large house fire overnight that heavily damaged the home in the area. Mahopac Falls Fire and EMS were dispatched around 3:25 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 23 to a home at 72 Mexico Lane, in Mahopac, said Jack Casey, public information officer for Mahopac Falls VFD. Teen Taken Into Custody After Crashing Audi Into Police Cruiser In Northern Westchester Chase
A teenager in an allegedly stolen Audi in the Hudson Valley took police on a wild ride during a late-night high-speed chase. An 18-year-old driving a stolen 2010 Audi A4 on I-684 in Northern Westchester attempted to flee police attempting to stop him, intentionally driving into a New York State Police cruiser before continuing the chase and ultimately crashing into a utility pole in New Castle. A bus was destroyed and two others damaged when a two-alarm fire ripped through a bus storage and repair garage in Yorktown Heights. The fire was reported at 5:09 p.m. Wednesday at the Baumann & Sons Bus Corporation at 1701 Front St., according to the Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department. A 63-year-old Westchester man killed during a single-vehicle crash on Route 116 has been identified. William S. Jackson of Mount Vernon was killed around 5:25 a.m. Tuesday in the town of Somers after losing control of his vehicle, said Trooper AJ Hicks, spokesman for the New York State Police.
