The fire occurred in Rockland County on Saturday, Oct. 26, and Sunday, Oct. 27, in Harriman State Park in Hillburn. The Hillburn Fire Department, with the assistance of several fire departments and New York State Park rangers, battled the blaze that consumed acres. ID Released For Man Critically Injured In I-87 Crash A man critically injured during a crash with a tractor-trailer on I-87 has been identified. State Police report that Orange County resident Louis M. Lupo, 52, of New Windsor, remains in critical condition following the crash on Monday, Jan. 13. The crash took place around 7:30 a.m., in Rockland County in the village of Sloatsburg when Lupo's vehicle hit the rear of a tractor-trailer that was parked on the shoulder, said Trooper Tara McCormick, spokesperson for the New York State Police. Explosion At Route 17 Construction Sites Injures Workers Two employees received facial injuries following an explosion at a sewer construction site in Rockland County.  The incident took place around 2:34 p.m. Monday on Route 17 in Sloatsburg at the "Metra Construction" site, said the Ramapo Police Department. According to police, the workers were clearing material from an earlier blasting, when a piece of explosive which had failed to detonate earlier, suddenly exploded sending dirt and debris in the air, police said.
