Fence Builder Ghosts Several Capital Region Homeowners After Taking Thousands, Police Say
The owner of a fence building company is accused of taking thousands of dollars from area homeowners for jobs that were never completed.
Schenectady County resident James Butler, age 30, of Glenville, was arrested on Friday, Feb. 23 on a felony charge of grand larceny.
Glenville Police said Butler, who owns and operates “Trust a Fence,” accepted over $7,000 from a Glenville homeowner to purchase fencing material. However, the job was never finished.

Passenger Dies In Fiery Drunk-Driving Crash Near Capital Region College, Police Say
A suspected drunk-driving crash near a college campus in the region claimed the life of a 47-year-old woman.
The fiery wreck happened just before 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, in Schenectady, on Eastern Avenue. The scene was two blocks away from Union College.
According to Schenectady Police, 31-year-old Gregory Mitchell, of Scotia, was driving while intoxicated when he crashed into a parked car on Eastern Avenue near Degraff Street.
The impact ignited a fire and trapped his passenger, Jacqueline McCole, of Scotia, inside the vehicle.

Body Found In River Believed To Be Missing Capital Region Man
Nearly three weeks after a 53-year-old man from the region went missing, the search for him has ended in tragedy.
On Wednesday morning, April 26, members of the New York State Police Underwater Recovery Team (URT) pulled a body from the Mohawk River in Schenectady County, near Alplaus, according to State Police.

Update:
A 14-year-old boy who was reported missing and was believed to be in the region has been found.
Peter Duguid, age 14, had last been seen by relatives on Wednesday, April 12, according to New York State Police.
On Thursday, April 13, troopers announced that Duguid had been located "in good health."

Police Investigating Drowning Deaths Of Man, Woman In Their 20s In Adirondacks
Authorities are investigating the drowning deaths of a young man and woman from the Capital District who were found in the southern Adirondacks.
The bodies of 24-year-old Kaydee Lyons, of Albany, and 28-year-old Matthew Banks, of Scotia, were found Friday, Aug. 19, in Tenant Creek in the Hamilton County town of Hope, State police said.
The deaths are still under investigation, but the drownings appear to be accidental, police said.
Lyons’ mother, Jennifer, confirmed her daughter’s death in a post on Facebook.
