Hudson Valley School Threat Deemed Unfounded, Police Say
A threat against a Hudson Valley middle school caused an area-wide lockdown of schools and a large police response. The threat took place in Dutchess County on Friday, Feb. 24 at the Rombout Middle School in Beacon. According to Det. Sgt. Jason Johnson of the Beacon Police, the school received a call from an individual who made a specific threat. 19: School In Area Closes Due To Positive Case
A school in the area is closed for 10 days for in-person learning after a positive case of COVID-19. J.V. Forrestal Elementary School in Beacon will conduct remote learning through Wednesday, Nov. 11, Beacon City School District Superintendent Matt Landahl said in a letter to the community. It’s no secret that the Hudson Valley is home to some of the state’s best schools, but those schools require well-compensated educators. Citing data from the New York State Teachers’ Retirement System, which makes the compensation of public school educators public, NewYorkUpstate.com released a report listing the top salaries.
