Blaze Tears Through Dutchess Home, Now Under Investigation
Firefighters from multiple departments worked through the night to battle a massive house fire in Dutchess County. The blaze broke out at a residence at 21 Old Farm Rd. in Pawling on Tuesday, Jan. 28, around 7:40 p.m., according to Pawling Fire Marshal Everett White. Arriving crews found flames ripping through the roof and a heavy fire load inside the home. Firefighters quickly called in reinforcements, with tankers responding from Putnam Lake, Patterson, and Beekman, along with an engine from Dover. A fire caused heavy damage at a home under construction in the area. Putnam Lake firefighters, along with the Patterson Fire Department, responded to the fire in Putnam Lake at 4 Kingston Road around 1:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 24, for a report of a structure fire, the department said. Arriving firefighters quickly confirmed a working fire at the unoccupied home that was under construction and requested a second alarm, the department said. The Hudson Valley is home to some of the wealthiest communities in upstate New York, according to a newly released report. Citing data from the latest U.S. Census, New York Upstate determined the richest places in upstate New York, including many from the Hudson Valley. Some area residents have among the longest commutes in the state, according to a newly released report. Using data from the U.S. Census, NewYorkUpstate.com compiled the municipalities with the most “super commuters,” a number which has risen 31.7 percent since 2005. Tara Ann Duffy, a lifelong resident of Putnam Lake, died on Monday, Feb. 26. She was 37. Born on Aug. 16, 1980 in the Bronx, she was the daughter to the late Raymond Duffy and Catherine (Evans) Duffy of Somers. She was a Brewster High School graduate. Tara received a certificate in Drug Counseling. Tara was a cherished daughter, loving sister and beloved cousin and niece. She could strike a conversation with anyone who crossed her path.
