A popular Hudson Valley pool has closed for the rest of the season due to ongoing water loss issues that will require major construction work to repair. The Ulster County Pool, located at 241 Libertyville Road in New Paltz, is closed as engineers assess the water loss, the Ulster County Department of Public Works said. Dozens Of DPW Trucks Vandalized In Westchester Before Snowstorm
Department of Public Works employees received an unwelcome surprise on Tuesday morning when they went to go to work, and it wasn’t snow. Police are investigating vandalism at the Mount Vernon DPW garage after workers found that the city’s snowplows, salt, garbage and sewer trucks had been sabotaged overnight. With a significant amount of snow still possible in Dutchess County on Wednesday, officials have activated the Dutchess County Emergency Operations Center with local, county and state experts monitoring the incoming storm. Dutchess County remains under a Winter Storm Warning, which will be in effect until 8 a.m. on Thursday morning. Poughkeepsie City Hall Reopens Wednesday After Early Closure
Residents with business at Poughkeepsie City Hall had to wait until after 10 a.m. Wednesday due to a late opening after the building experienced heating problems causing officials to shut down early Tuesday. Because of the freezing temperatures, City Hall closed at 2 p.m., Tuesday to give public works employees a chance to work on a malfunctioning boiler, city officials said.
