Putnam Man Nailed For Impersonating Officer May Have Stopped Others Local deputies are asking area motorists if they have been pulled over by a 25-year-old man recently arrested for impersonating a police officer.  Joseph A. Maffettone of Putnam Valley was arrested on Feb. 16 on charges of impersonating a police officer after the Putnam County Sheriff's Office received a report from a woman who said she was pulled over by a man pretending to be a police officer.
