A 71-year-old man was killed in a mountain bike accident at a state park in the Hudson Valley.
The incident occurred in Rockland County around 3:15 p.m., Wednesday, May 22, at Tallman Mountain State Park in Orangetown.
According to Trooper Steven Nevel with the New York State Police, a preliminary investigation revealed that Alido M. Pavan, of Tenafly, New Jersey, was riding his mountain bike at Tallman State Park when he lost control of his bike, causing him to hit the ground striking his head.

A 63-year-old Hudson Valley man has been charged with the alleged slashing of another man with a knife on St. Patrick's Day.
Rockland County resident Eddie Sanchez of Nyack was charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon on Monday, March 29, for the Sunday, March 17 attack, said Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Walsh II.
According to Walsh, Sanchez engaged in a verbal dispute with the victim, a 46-year-old resident of Orangetown, when he pulled a knife, hid it behind his back, and then slashed the victim across the face.

Rockland County resident Baruch Ungar, age 26, of Monsey, was arrested around 11:50 p.m., Sunday, March 14 in Clarkstown, following a pursuit on Palisades Parkway, said Trooper Steven Nevel.

Juan Colon, of Newark, New Jersey, was arrested around 10:45 p.m., Tuesday, after Clarkstown Police officers on patrol attempted to stop a black Ford F-350 that had been reported stolen, said Clarkstown Police Officer Norman Peters.
