Girl, 14, Critical After Newburgh Shooting: Police A 14-year-old girl is in critical condition after being shot in the City of Newburgh on Friday night, Dec. 20, police said. Officers from the City of Newburgh Police Department responded to a report of gunfire near 119 South Street at approximately 8:30 p.m., the department said. Upon arrival, officers found the teen suffering from a gunshot wound. Police immediately provided life-saving aid before the victim was transported to Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. The shooting took place in Orange County around 4 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 7, in the area of 182 Lander Street. The incident took place around 2:30 a.m, Thursday, Dec. 19, when the City of Newburgh Police received the notification of gunshots in the area of City Terrace, said Lt. Joseph Burns. When officers arrived on the scene, they found Tykeith Stevenson, 31, of Newburgh, who sustained several gunshot wounds, Burns said. The shooting incident came to light in Orange County around 8 p.m., Monday, Nov. 11, when the City of Newburgh police received a Shot Spotter notification on Lander Street, said Det. Lt. Police detected the shooting around 7:48 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 1, after receiving a Shot Spotter activation for the area of 143 N. Miller Street, said City of Newburgh Police Det. Sgt. Joseph Burns.
