The Albany County incident happened Sunday afternoon, June 30, in the town of New Scotland at the Clarksville Cave. Sheriff Craig Apple said a 20-year-old man entered the cave with a group of friends from Queensbury in Warren County, but when he tried to exit, he became stuck. 23-Year-Old Assaults, Holds Victim Against Will In Hours-Long Capital Region Dispute, Cops Say A 23-year-old man from the region is facing over a half dozen charges after allegedly holding a victim against their will and assaulting them in a dispute that lasted hours. Jacob Muniz, of Albany, was arraigned on assault and related charges in Albany County Court on Monday, June 17. An investigation by New York State Police found that Muniz physically assaulted and injured the victim while holding them against their will at a New Scotland resident, police said. 25-Year-Old Dies Following Single-Car Crash In Capital Region A 25-year-old man has died following a single-car crash in the region.  Emergency crews in Albany County were called at around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, July 23, for a crash in the town of New Scotland, on Upper Flat Rock Road. An investigation by New York State Police found that David Loucks, of Schenectady, drove off the roadway and struck a tree. Despite life-saving efforts, Loucks was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said. No other vehicles were involved and there were no additional reports of injuries. State Police said the investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Home Builder Defrauded Multiple Contractors In Capital Region, Police Say A home builder in the region is accused of failing to pay contractors for their work, in one case knowingly issuing a bad check, authorities said. Aaron Godlewski, age 31, of Altamont, was arrested Tuesday, June 13, on suspicion of fraud and other charges, according to New York State Police. Troopers were initially contacted in early May 2023 by a contractor who claimed he was issued a bad check by Godlewski, who was acting as a home builder and general contractor for Godlewski Builders LLC. Albany County resident Shandell Scott, age 32, of New Scotland, was arrested by State Police on Tuesday, Jan. 3. It came more than a week after troopers were called to a Voorheesville home at around noon on Sunday, Dec. 25, with reports of an altercation and theft. Investigators determined that Scott struck and “forcibly took” multiple items from the victim. 'Life Of The Party': Longtime Special Ed Teacher In Capital District Dies At Age 68 A longtime educator in the Capital District is being remembered for her ability to connect with her students. Joan Murray, of Albany, died Monday, Aug. 1, at the age of 68 following a “courageous battle” with pancreatic cancer, according to her obituary.  Born in Albany on Aug. 25, 1953, to John and Loretta, Murray graduated from Marylrose Academy in 1971 and D’Youville College in Buffalo in 1975, her obituary said. She earned her master’s degree from the College of St. Rose. “Joan was always active - the life of the party,” her memorial said. “She welcomed everyone into her home and had …
