Northern Westchester Deli Owner Sentenced For Sexually Abusing Employee
A Northern Westchester deli owner has been sentenced to prison for the sexual abuse of an employee at a deli he owns. Westchester County District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah announced that 54-year-old Yorktown resident Patrick Patierno was sentenced on Monday, Aug. 8, to five years in state prison, with 10 years of post-release supervision. "Sexual abuse will not be tolerated especially when perpetrated by abusers in a position of authority who exploit their power," said Rocah. A new pop-up COVID-19 vaccination site is being set up in Northern Westchester this week as the state works to provide first doses to thousands of New Yorkers. New York Gov. Tanker Truck Fire Breaks Out Near High School In Northern Westchester
An oil tanker fire tied up traffic for several hours near an area high school. The oil tanker caught fire at approximately 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11 on South Highland Avenue in Ossining near the high school, officials said. The incident caused severe traffic problems on Route 9A and in the surrounding areas. Police said that the fire caused traffic diversions between Main Street and Walker Avenue. Retaining Wall Collapses, Tumbles Into Roadway In Ossining
Main Street in Ossining is still closed to traffic following the collapse of a 40- to 50-foot-tall retaining wall that tumbled into the roadway, bringing part of a business along with it. The incident took place around 7:30 p.m. Monday at 100 Main St., near the heart of downtown Ossining, said the Ossining Police Department. No one was injured during the collapse of the wall located at the split between Main Street, Secor Road, and Hunter Street, police said. Medical Center In Ossining Evacuated After Threatening Text Message
An area medical center was evacuated after receiving a threatening text message. The threat to the business, the Open Door Medical Center at 165 Main Street in Ossining, came in around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, the department said. The building has been evacuated and the area is being searched for suspicious items by the Westchester County Police Special Operations Division. Main Street is currently closed to traffic.
