Rollover Crash Victim, Taxi Driver Nabbed For Drunk Driving In Hudson Valley: Police Several people were nabbed on drunk driving charges in the Hudson Valley over the holiday weekend, including a Westchester woman rescued from a rolled-over car and a taxi driver, police said. The arrests were announced by the Putnam County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday, Oct. 17, and were all made over Columbus Day weekend.  The first incident happened on Friday, Oct. 11 in Putnam Valley, when a car crashed and flipped on Church Road in the area of Kramers Pond Road.  Arriving sheriff's deputies found a vehicle on its side with downed live wires nearby. Home Catches Fire After Lightning Strike In Putnam A house struck by lightning in Putnam County during a thunderstorm on Wednesday was saved by firefighters with the Putnam Valley Volunteer Fire Department. The storm, which occurred around 4:30 p.m., sent lighting flying into the side of a home on Old Stone House Road in Putnam Valley, the fire department said on Facebook.  Flames burned the side of the house, but firefighters were able to extinguish them within minutes, they added.
