A popular Hudson Valley police chief has been named President of the New York State Association of Chiefs of Police. Joseph A. Sinagra of the Saugerties PD in Ulster County was sworn in during the annual conference in Albany. He succeeds Chief Kevin Sylvester of the Ossining PD. Sinagra previously served on both the Board of Governors and the executive board of the NYSACOP. Authorities are investigating after a man allegedly lured a young student into his yard in Northern Westchester and inappropriately touched the child, police said. Police in Northern Westchester are investigating a social media threat reportedly made by a student threatening violence. Retaining Wall Collapses, Tumbles Into Roadway In Ossining
Main Street in Ossining is still closed to traffic following the collapse of a 40- to 50-foot-tall retaining wall that tumbled into the roadway, bringing part of a business along with it. The incident took place around 7:30 p.m. Monday at 100 Main St., near the heart of downtown Ossining, said the Ossining Police Department. No one was injured during the collapse of the wall located at the split between Main Street, Secor Road, and Hunter Street, police said.
