Duo Nabbed With Cocaine During I-87 Traffic Stop, State Police Say
A man and woman were busted for allegedly possessing cocaine following a traffic stop on I-87.
Ulster County residents Paige A. Sweeney, 20, and Jerry Igbinazaka, 35, both of Kingston, were arrested around 12:05 a.m., Sunday, March 8, after being stopped on I-87 in Plattekill for a traffic violation, said the New York State Police.
While interviewing the driver, state police said troopers established probable cause to search the vehicle and its occupants.

A 30-year-old man killed after being hit by two vehicles on I-87 has been identified.
Orange County resident Anthony Shipman III, of New Windsor, was found dead on the highway around 1:20 a.m., Sunday, March 8, after New York State Police responded to a call of a person sitting on the guide rail on the northbound side of the highway in the town of Newburgh, said state police.
An investigation at the scene found that David R. Kurtz, 48, of Walden, was driving his 2020 Chevy Blazer northbound when he struck Shipman, who was in the roadway for an unknown reason.

Man Arrested On Thruway For Fleeing Police In Stolen Car, Police Say
A 33-year-old man who allegedly fled from state troopers on the Thruway was nabbed for driving a stolen vehicle.
John C. Johnson, 33, of Paterson, New Jersey, was arrested around 10 a.m., Thursday, March 5, after troopers received a report of a vehicle pursuit entering the state from New Jersey, involving a stolen vehicle, said New York State Police.
Troopers attempted to stop the vehicle on I-87 in the town of Tuxedo. While attempting to avoid police, Johnson's vehicle struck the guide rail sustaining heavy damage and continued for a short time before driving off the road.

Two men have been charged after police say they were caught with 91 grams of heroin and fentanyl during a traffic stop on I-87.
New York State Police initiated a traffic stop on I-87 in Orange County in the town of Cornwall for a violation on Monday, Dec. 9 around 1 a.m.
