IDs Released For 5 Family Members Killed In Murder-Suicide In Quiet Suburban NY Neighborhood
The identities have been released for five family members who were killed in a murder-suicide in a residential Long Island community. The incident happened just before noon on Sunday, Aug. 25 at a residence on a cul-de-sac in Syosset. Nassau County Police say officers who responded to the residence on 76 Wyoming Court for a report of shots fired discovered a man outside the home who "sustained an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound." A Hudson Valley mother of three has died at the age of 50. Dutchess County resident Jennifer J. Strang-Thrasher, of Wassaic, died on Sunday, February 4, at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie. Strang-Thrasher, born in Connecticut in the town of Sharon in Litchfield County, was a graduate of Dover High School and Dutchess Community College. Funeral details and a statement from the family have been released after five women returning from Umrah in Mecca, Saudi Arabia were killed on Interstate 81 on Tuesday evening, Jan. 16. The women "were on their way back home from the Dulles airport," their family told Daily Voice. They were struck dead by a tractor-trailer at the 199.3-mile marker in Scott Township, approximately 12 miles north of Scranton, troopers detailed in a release. According to his obituary, Maryniak was born in New Rochelle and grew up in South Salem. He later moved to Wappingers Falls. Funeral arrangements have been announced for a longtime Putnam County Sheriff's deputy who was killed in a double-fatal crash in Northern Westchester. Michael J. Moore, 50, of Mahopac, was killed around 6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 25 on Route 6N, said Yorktown Police. When police and fire officials arrived on the scene, they found Moore, who was the driver of one of the vehicles, dead.
