Fireworks Mistaken For Gunshots Cause School To Lock Down In Hudson Valley A school in the Hudson Valley was put on lockdown after noises that sounded like gunshots were heard near the campus, police said.  The incident happened on Monday, May 15 at Haldane Elementary School in Cold Spring, when at around 12:15 p.m., noises that sounded like a firearm discharging were heard near the school by a school resource officer, according to Haldane Central School District Superintendent Phil Benante.   The noise prompted the school to initiate a lockdown of all students and staff in accordance with the district's emergency management protocols, and…

Fire Destroys Home In Hudson Valley Wayward fireworks may have started a fire that destroyed a 3,000-square-foot home in the Hudson Valley. The fire started in Orange County in the town of Goshen around 10 p.m., Monday, July 4 at a two-story home on Corral Lane in the Harness Estates development. According to Goshen Assistant Fire Chief Peter Easop, firefighters arrived on the scene within four minutes and found the home fully engulfed in flames. It took about an hour for firefighters to douse the flames that consumed the structure, causing such extensive damage that the home was later knocked down, said Easop. The resident…
