Mahopac Brush Fire Sandwiched On Tree Line Threatens Home
Mahopac firefighters spent several hours battling a fire located behind a home on Shinaya Court located near a heavily wooded tree line. The call for the fire came in around 3 p.m. Wednesday with the department responding within minutes, Chief Bill Nikisher was quick to call for reinforcements. Mahopac firefighters tried to sandwich the fire between the trucks but the tree line proved too dense and a mutual aid call was put out for Battalion 16 and Mahopac Falls to roll out with a brush truck and tanker. Brush Fire Burns 20 Acres In Arlington
One firefighter was slightly injured and more than 30 firefighters battled a brush fire that burned more than 20 acres near Van Wagner Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie, according to Arlington Fire Chief Tory Gallante. Arlington firefighters responded to the fire around 5 p.m. Saturday for a report of black smoke from the woods behind the home at 342 Van Wagner Road, Gallante said. Westchester Native ID'd As Victim Of Four-Alarm Fire At Trump Tower
The man who was killed when a raging fire broke out in his apartment on the 50th floor of Trump Tower in midtown Manhattan early Saturday evening has been identified as a Westchester native. The blaze, which was upgraded from three alarms to four alarms, erupted at the 58-story, 664-foot high mixed-use skyscraper on Fifth Avenue near West 56th Street just before 6 p.m. Firefighters found the man, identified as 67-year-old Todd Brassner, unconscious and unresponsive when they entered the apartment. Four-Alarm Blaze Breaks Out At Bowling Alley In Orange County
It took hours for firefighters from numerous companies to contain a four-alarm blaze that broke out Saturday afternoon at a bowling alley in Port Jervis. During the fire which broke out around 3 p.m. at Minisink Lanes on Route 209 in the hamlet of Huguenot, flames burst through the roof of the one-story structure as firefighters from more than 15 companies went to work. No serious injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
