Pediatric Nurse From Capital Region Dies At Age 34 Of Cancer: 'Brought Warmth To Everyone' Colleagues and loved ones are mourning the loss of a beloved pediatric nurse and former EMT from the region following her death. Albany County resident Kristina Ferraro, of Bethlehem, died Thursday, Nov. 2, at the age of 34 following a battle with colon cancer, according to her obituary.  Ferraro was born in Queens and began her nursing career at Albany Medical Center in the pediatric intensive care unit, where she “touched the lives of many children and families,” her memorial said. “She had a smile and sense of humor that could shine light in the darkest of places and an infectious laug…

HS Student Wins $20K In Northern Westchester: 'Will Change World One Day' A high school student from Northern Westchester has received a $20,000 scholarship after being named a 2023 Coca-Cola Scholar.  Matthew Krasnow, a student at Fox Lane High School in Bedford, is one of only 150 students across the entire country to receive the scholarship and was picked out of more than 91,000 applicants, according to the Bedford Central School District.  Krasnow was picked based on criteria such as academic excellence, leadership skills, and services in both school and community activities, school officials said. Victim Of Double-Fatal Palisades Parkway Crash ID'd As First Responder In Northern Westchester One of the victims of a wrong-way head-on double fatal crash on the Palisades Parkway was a Northern Westchester County emergency medical technician.  Aristan Garandeau, age 22, of Croton-on-Hudson, died around 2:40 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 6 in Clarkstown, said the New York State Police. Garandeau was traveling in the wrong direction on the parkway when he hit another car head-on driven by Brendan Seabrook, 27, of Pennsylvania, who was also killed, said state police. Garandeau was pronounced dead at the scene. Seabrook was transported to Montefiore Nyack Hospital where he later died. See Rel…
