Impaired Driver Charged After Fatal Crash In Region, Police Say A tractor-trailer driver was killed in the Capital Region after crashing into the back of another truck in which the driver was charged with DWI/ impaired by drugs. The crash occurred in Schenectady County at 10:15 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 5, on I-90 in Rotterdam. 3 Kids Found In Car Of Drugged Driver In Capital Region, Police Say A 29-year-old man from the region is facing charges after allegedly driving high on drugs with children in the car, authorities said. Albany County resident Michael Smith, of Cohoes, was arrested following a traffic stop in Watervliet late Monday night, Jan. 9, according to Watervliet Police. Officers stopped Smith at around 11:30 p.m. near 25th Street and Second Avenue for vehicle and traffic law violations. Man Sentenced For Fatal Morphine-Impaired Route 22 Crash A 45-year-old Dutchess County man who was impaired by morphine when he crashed into another vehicle in 2015, killing a Kent woman, has been sentenced to one to three years in prison.
