Peekskill Native Wayne Douglas Puff, Who Once Performed On 'Today Show,' Dies
Northern Westchester native Wayne Douglas Puff, 72, of Iola, Kansas, died on Saturday, June 20 at his daughter’s home.
Wayne was born March 13, 1948, in Peekskill to Raymond Puff and Dorothy (Scofield) Puff. He graduated from Haldane High School in Cold Spring.
He and Deborah Baker were married in April, 1969. They had two daughters and were later divorced. Wayne was married two additional times; first to Mary Smith and second to Kyu Park.
Wayne worked as a buyer at Filene’s in Boston, in the early 1970s, a ski instructor in Colorado during the 1980s, and as a swing dance instructor in …

Storm Knocks Out Power To Thousands, Brings Down Trees, Power Lines In Putnam, Dutchess
Thousands are without power on Long Island as storms rolled through the region, bringing whipping winds of more than 70 mph that toppled tree limbs and downed power lines.
As of 1 p.m. on Monday, April 13, Central Hudson was reporting that 17,493 of its 120,208 customers were without power, while 2,580 of its 5,151 customers were reporting outages.
NYSEG was reporting 13,619 of its Putnam customers were without power, while 868 in Dutchess were left in the dark.

On Friday, Dec. 20, State Police from Brewster arrested Michael A. Verella, 44, of Somers, for DWI. He was traveling on Interstate 684 in the town of Southeast, when he was stopped for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law. A former elected official and teacher who ran for mayor in an area village this year is facing charges for allegedly attempting to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced.
Charles Hustis III, a former teacher and village board member in Cold Spring, was arrested on Monday, Dec. 16, and charged with one count of attempted enticement of a minor after allegedly using social media to make contact with his teen victim earlier this month, according to U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman.
