32-Year-Old From Capital Region Nabbed For Sexual Abuse Of Young Child, State Police Say A Capital Region man is behind bars, accused of sexually abusing a young child. Columbia County resident Ruben Martinez Cruz, age 32, of Valatie, is charged with felony criminal sexual act in the first degree, New York State Police said. Cruz was arrested Friday, April 22, after an investigation by State Police and the Columbia County Child Advocacy Center found that he sexually assaulted a victim under the age of 11, police said. He's currently being held at the Columbia County jail on a $100,000 bond. He was scheduled to appear back in court Tuesday, May 17.

Upon his release from state prison, Park will serve 10 years of post-release supervision and will register as a sex offender for at least 20 years. 19-Year-Old Engaged In Sexual Conduct With Child In Dutchess, Police Say A 19-year-old man is facing a felony charge after a police investigation determined he allegedly had sexual contact with a child in Dutchess County, state police investigators said. An investigation by New York State Police detectives and the Dutchess County Child Advocacy Center led to the arrest of Jairon Gregorio Mendez, who was charged with a felony count of first-degree course of sexual contact with a child on Monday.
