Police Seek Tips After Woman Fatally Shot In Capital District
Police are investigating after a woman was fatally shot in the Capital District. Officers found the 27-year-old victim at around 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 3, after getting reports of shots fired near North Pearl Street and Livingston Avenue, according to Albany Police. She had been shot multiple times in the torso, police said. Medics treated the woman at the scene, but she later died at Albany Medical Center Hospital, police said. Would-Be Elderly Victim Busts Serial Scammer In Capital District
An accused serial scammer is behind bars thanks to a savvy would-be victim in the Capital District. Colonie Police said the elderly woman called 911 Wednesday morning, June 22, saying she had received a phone call that she believed to be a scam. She told police a man had called claiming to be an attorney for her granddaughter and said he needed bail money to get her out of jail. At one point, the man even put a woman on the phone who pretended to be the victim’s granddaughter, police said. Ahsid Hemingway-Powell, age 30, was found dead just after 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, inside her home at the Loudon Arms Apartments, located on Old Hickory Drive in Albany, according to Albany Police. Man Found Shot To Death In Capital District
Authorities are trying to determine what led up to a fatal shooting in the Capital District. Police were called to an Albany home near Quail and Second streets with reports of a shooting shortly before 1:30 a.m. Thursday, May 26. A man has died following a stabbing attack in the Capital District. Police were called to an Albany home on Washington Avenue near Partridge Street just after 10 p.m. Monday, May 16, with reports of a stabbing. A 60-year-old woman who was shot inside her Albany home was shot through a window and it was all caught on video. Albany Police provided new details Wednesday, May 11, surrounding the shooting that occurred at a home on Partridge Street near Madison Avenue a day prior.
