Five Westchester Residents Charged With DWI In State Police Stops
New York State Police troopers in the Hudson Valley removed more than a dozen drivers from area roadways for allegedly driving while impaired or intoxicated. Local residents charged were: Westchester County On Friday, Jan. 18, State Police troopers from Somers arrested Nancy Joyce, 54, of Somers, for DWI. She was traveling on Route 202 in Somers, when she caused a motor vehicle crash that resulted in an injury. NYC Firefighter Arrested In Connection With Fatal Route 9A Hit-Run

Westchester County Police have charged a New York City firefighters from Buchanan in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred on Saturday in the village of Buchanan. Eric Werner, 44, an 18-year FDNY veteran who works in Queens, was arrested Sunday and charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, a felony, said Kieran O'Leary, spokesman for the Westchester County Police. Man Struck, Killed By Vehicle In Northern Westchester
This story has been updated. A male pedestrian was killed overnight after being struck by a vehicle in Northern Westchester. The incident occurred around 1 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29 in Buchanan on Albany Post Road (Route 9A) between the railroad bridge and Bleakley Avenue near the Peekskill border. Officers from the Buchanan and Westchester County police departments, along with MTA Police, responded. The southbound lanes of Route 9A were closed during the investigation. Photos: 'Kooky, Spooky' Decor For Halloween Turns Heads In Northern Westchester
A Northern Westchester County homeowner set up a spook-tacular special treat for his neighbors. Buchanan resident Brian Neurauter has set up a maze and haunted house on 4th Street, complete with all the ghouls, goblins and other Halloween fixings. Hundreds of children from around the area have visited the residence leading up to the holiday, with plenty more expected to take the tour on Halloween afternoon and evening. The experience comes complete with skeletons, zombies, spiders, bats, the undead and plenty of other spooky surprises for all comers.

Woman Rescued After Falling Into Hole Used To Hold Tank In Northern Westchester
A Northern Westchester woman who fell into a hole in the ground was rescued by first responders after a health aide discovered she was missing. The incident took place around 9:25 a.m. Wednesday on Ketchum Avenue in Buchanan when the woman went outside to check the 5-foot hole that used to hold an old tank in her yard, said Buchanan Police Chief Brian Tubbs. 'Band Of Brothers' Original Member From Hudson Valley Dies
One of the original “Band of Brothers” from the Hudson Valley who parachuted behind enemy lines on D-Day has died at the age of 96. Philip Perugini, a Northern Westchester resident in Buchanan who formerly called Ossining home died on Thursday, Aug. 9. He was born on May 26, 1922, to Tomaso and Angiolina Perugini. When World War II began, Perugini enlisted in the United States Army and was one of the original “Band of Brothers,” the group of soldiers with the 101st Airborne, 506th Parachute Infantry, with the Easy Company Squad. Five Cats Killed In Northern Westchester House Fire
Five cats were killed in a Northern Westchester house fire that is believed to have started in the kitchen, according to firefighters. Croton-on-Hudson Volunteer Fire Department was called to a house fire on Maple Street around 3:30 p.m. Monday and found the house in flames, with no one at home, the department said. Due to a coordinated, aggressive interior fire attack, the fire was held to the kitchen and a second-floor room, and the neighboring house was saved but did sustain some damage from the radiant heat, the department said. Entergy Reaches Deal With Union On Indian Point Contract
A possible strike by workers at the Indian Point nuclear power plant in Northern Westchester has been averted. Entergy announced early Wednesday morning that it has reached an agreement with the Utility Workers Union of America Local 1-2 on a new four-year contract for the union’s approximately 330 workers at the Indian Point Energy Center in Buchanan. Indian Point now has a total of nearly 1,000 employees. BUCHANAN, N.Y. -- The union that represents employees of Indian Point Entergy Center in Buchanan said they are prepared to go on strike if negotiations with Entergy, which runs the plant, go nowhere. Employees of Indian Point Energy Center in Buchanan could be going on strike as early as next week. More than 300 members of Local 1-2, the Utility Workers of America, which represents employees of the nuclear power plant in Northern Westchester, voted to authorize a strike on Thursday.
