Man Struck, Killed By Vehicle In Northern Westchester This story has been updated. A male pedestrian was killed overnight after being struck by a vehicle in Northern Westchester. The incident occurred around 1 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29 in Buchanan on Albany Post Road (Route 9A) between the railroad bridge and Bleakley Avenue near the Peekskill border. Officers from the Buchanan and Westchester County police departments, along with MTA Police, responded. Buchanan resident Brian Neurauter has set up a maze and haunted house on 4th Street, complete with all the ghouls, goblins and other Halloween fixings. Hundreds of children from around the area have visited the residence leading up to the holiday, with plenty more expected to take the tour on Halloween afternoon and evening. The experience comes complete with skeletons, zombies, spiders, bats, the undead and plenty of other spooky surprises for all comers.

The incident took place around 9:25 a.m. Wednesday on Ketchum Avenue in Buchanan when the woman went outside to check the 5-foot hole that used to hold an old tank in her yard, said Buchanan Police Chief Brian Tubbs. Philip Perugini, a Northern Westchester resident in Buchanan who formerly called Ossining home died on Thursday, Aug. 9. He was born on May 26, 1922, to Tomaso and Angiolina Perugini. When World War II began, Perugini enlisted in the United States Army and was one of the original “Band of Brothers,” the group of soldiers with the 101st Airborne, 506th Parachute Infantry, with the Easy Company Squad. Croton-on-Hudson Volunteer Fire Department was called to a house fire on Maple Street around 3:30 p.m. Monday and found the house in flames, with no one at home, the department said. Entergy Reaches Deal With Union On Indian Point Contract A possible strike by workers at the Indian Point nuclear power plant in Northern Westchester has been averted. Entergy announced early Wednesday morning that it has reached an agreement with the Utility Workers Union of America Local 1-2 on a new four-year contract for the union’s approximately 330 workers at the Indian Point Energy Center in Buchanan. Indian Point now has a total of nearly 1,000 employees.
