If the Nov. 6 election was held today, who would you pick for Congress?
- Republican U.S. Rep. John Faso
- Democrat Antonio Delgado
- Undecided
Delgado, a native of Schenectady, lives in Rhinebeck with his wife and their two sons. Delgado won a seven-candidate Democratic primary election in June. He faces Faso in the Nov. 6 general election.
According to a poll released Wednesday, Sept. 12 by Monmouth University, Delgado has a 45 percent to 43 percent lead over Faso.
The poll from the New Jersey college had a 4.9 percent margin of error.
The race is one of the more closely watched in the nation as Faso seeks a second term in a moderate Hudson Valley district that stretches from Dutchess County into the Albany area and Southern Tier of New York state.
Faso has supported some of the White House's policies, such as voting in favor of the American Health Care Act, which would have replaced the Affordable Care Act.
Faso voted against the federal tax reform plan last December, saying it would hurt his congressional district, which also includes Sullivan and Ulster counties.
