At approximately 4:57 a.m., troopers were dispatched to investigate a one-car personal injury auto collision that occurred on Route 44 in Pleasant Valley, according to the police. The vehicle involved, a 2011 Honda Pilot, had exited the roadway and struck a tree. An investigation revealed that the driver and sole occupant was Sehgal, who was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
Sehgal was charged with Felony DWI when a criminal history revealed that he was convicted of DWI-related offenses in 2008 and 2013.
He was arraigned before the Town of Pleasant Valley Justice Court and released to the supervision of probation. He is due to appear in Pleasant Valley Court on Thursday, Nov. 19 at 5:30 p.m.
On Saturday, Oct. 31, troopers were contacted by a Washington resident who reported that the vehicle Sehgal damaged on Oct. 30 was her vehicle. She reported that at no time did Sehgal, her acquaintance, have permission to operate her vehicle as it was not equipped with an interlock device.
Sehgal was additionally charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle in the third degree, a Class A Misdemeanor. He was arraigned before the Town of Pleasant Valley Justice Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
Sehgal is due to appear before the Town of Washington Court on Tuesday, Nov. 10.
