Wappingers School Bus Monitor, 80, Charged With Hitting Small Child

WAPPINGER, N.Y. -- A Wappingers school bus monitor has been charged with hitting a small child, according to state police.

Bert A. Swain, 80, of Poughkeepsie, faces charges of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, police said.

School officials, after reviewing security tapes from the alleged incident on Thursday, Jan. 21, notified state police.

Swain was arrested on Sunday, Jan. 24, and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Wappinger Court on Tuesday, Jan. 25, police said.
