Marquett L. Ryans, 20, was arrested Monday and charged with second-degree assault, a felony, police said.

Two days earlier Ryans had met the 17-year-old victim in a wooded area off Wenliss Terrace in the village where he, two others, and the teen got into a fight, police said.

After punches were thrown, Ryans shot the teen with the BB gun, police said.

Police said that the teen was taken to the hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released.

Also arrested in connection with the case were Latif S. Reid-Ogarro, 22, of Wappingers Falls, and an unidentified 17-year-old man.

They were both charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, police said.

Reid-Ogarro and the 17-year-old participated in the fight that injured the first teen, police said.

Ryans was arraigned in the Village of Wappingers Falls Court and released on his own recognizance.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, April 28.

The 17-year-old suspect, a Wappinger resident, was ticketed and ordered to appear in the same court at an undisclosed date.

Reid-Ogarro was arraigned and sent to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,500 bond, police said.

State police were assisted at the scene of the assault Saturday, April 9, by Mobile Life EMS and the Village of Wappingers Falls Police Department.
