Jake R. Oliva, 27, was charged with felony robbery, around 4:50 p.m. Thursday after officers spotted the car used in the heist on South Road.
Oliva was arrested without incident, said Town of Poughkeepsie Police Capt. Kevin Faber.
The robbery took place around 9:30 a.m. Thursday, after he walked into the TD Bank, on South Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie, and demanded money, Faber said.
"He indicated he had a gun but did not display one," Faber said.
Video surveillance footage from inside and outside the bank gave officers a good shot of his face, along with the car he fled in.
Additional intelligence developed from interviews, anonymous public tips and other police agencies led to Oliva being identified within a matter of hours, Faber said.
Police were also able to recover physical evidence from the robbery.
Oliva, who was charged with robbery, is being held at the Dutchess County Jail on $20,000 bail or $40,000 bond.
Police were assisted by state police, the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, Ulster County Sheriff's Office and Hudson Valley Crime Analysis Center.
