Poughkeepsie Teen In Critical Condition After Being Hit By Car

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- A 15-year-old Poughkeepsie girl is in critical condition after being hit by a car while walking on South Chodikee Lake Road in Highland on Monday, according to the Lloyd Police Department.

The girl was struck by a 51-year-old Highland man as he was traveling southbound in his 1999 Honda Accord around 7 p.m., police said.

The girl was flown to Westchester Medical Center with serious head and leg injuries where she is listed in critical conditions, police added.

The road was closed for more than five hours while police investigated the scene.

The accident is currently under investigation, police said.

Lloyd Police were assisted by New York State Police, New York State Police Collison Reconstruction Unit, Highland Fire Department and Mobil Life Ambulance.
