POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- A Poughkeepsie father faces assault charges after police said he squeezed his 3-month-old son so hard that he broke the baby’s ribs, according to a report by the Poughkeepsie Journal.

William Nelson, 29, was arrested Friday and sent to the Dutchess County Jail, reported the Journal. The infant was treated at a hospital and is in the custody of child protective services, the Journal report said.
