The wreck happened around 9:30 p.m on northbound I-87 near the I-84 bridge in Newburgh when Tina L. Manginelli, 40, of Kingston, struck the rear of a 2013 Ford Econoline van, state police said.

The force of the collision caused the van to lose control and roll over. A passenger, Sarah E. Weinberger, 38, of Astoria, was ejected and struck by a 2006 Subaru Forrester driven by Susan B. Brown, 71, of New York City, state police said.

The driver of the Ford, Guy Laor, 39, of Rego Park, and 3 of his 4 passengers were transported to St. Luke’s Hospital for minor injuries.

Weinberger was transported to Westchester Medical Center for serious internal and facial injuries and is in critical condition.

Brown was not injured.

The accident was reconstructed by the New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit and is still under investigation.

Manginelli was charged with driving while intoxicated and felony vehicular assault, state police said.

She was released on her own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 24, 2017.
