Cheryl Thomas, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested after police received a complaint on Friday, Feb. 3, from a resident who reported unauthorized charges on her debit card at area businesses and that several items were missing from her home, said Capt. Ken Roman.

An investigation by the Detective Division identified Thomas as the person responsible for the thefts while she was employed as home health care aide at the victim's home for several months, Roman said.

Thomas was released under the supervision of the Dutchess County Probation Department.
