The arrest came about when a member of the Sheriff's Office conducting a patrol observed a 2000 Volkswagen passing a red light on Main Street at the intersection with Perry Street on Saturday about 3:36 a.m., police report.
A traffic stop was conducted, and an investigation revealed that the operator of the vehicle, identified as Isaac Gutierrez, was intoxicated, according to officials.
Further investigation showed that Gutierrez had a prior conviction for having a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or more within the past 10 years: the previous sentence was handed down in Delaware County on March 26, 2007, police report.
Gutierrez was charged with both felony DWI and having a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or more due to the prior conviction, as well as passing a red light, a traffic infraction, according to officials.
The defendant was arraigned in Poughkeepsie City Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail on no bail, police report.
He was scheduled to reappear in City Court on Monday at 9 a.m., according to officials.
