Nicholas J. Cioce, 17, of LaGrange, who attends Arlington High School, was arrested Friday after Customs tracked the tweet, which made reference to carrying out a shooting a high school, to the Poughkeepsie area and notified the Town of Poughkeepsie Police, said New York State Police Spokesman AJ Hicks.
Town of Poughkeepsie Police, Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police worked jointly to identify and locate the author of the tweeted threat which stated “Guys 50 retweets and I'll shoot up my high school…”
The threat impacted the local community as word spread into other neighboring school districts and Arlington and Roy C. Ketcham High Schools were put on lockouts as a result of the tweet.
Cioce was taken into custody without incident and subsequently arraigned before the town of LaGrange Court and remanded to Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
