POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Linda Kafina LaTorre, of Poughkeepsie, died Nov. 21. She was 75.
She was born April 26, 1941, in the Bronx and was a resident of Dutchess County the past 20 years.
She received her M.S.W. degree from New York University. Exceptional in her work as a psychotherapist, she touched many lives. She had a wonderful sense of humor, was a talented writer and had a flair and zest for living. Most of all, she cared for people. She had the unique ability to truly listen and always was there for someone in need.
She is survived by three daughters and son-in-law, Marisa LaTorre, Susan LaTorre, Kristin Perez-Simmons and John Simmons; sister, Marcia Gellert; partner, William Mosher; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
There are no calling hours. A service will be conducted at noon Friday at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hudson Valley Hospice or the American Lung Association.
Arrangements are under the direction of William G. Miller & Son Funeral Home Inc. 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie.
