Umar Abdel Raheem Johnson of Poughkeepsie was arrested Tuesday after police responded to a home in Glasco for a reported physical domestic dispute, said Saugerties Chief Joseph Sinagra.

During the course of the altercation, Johnson reportedly pushed the victim down a flight of stairs, injuring the woman who is three-months pregnant, he added.

The woman was treated at the scene by paramedics from Diaz Ambulance and then transported to the Kingston Hospital where she was treated and released.

Johnson, who had fled the scene prior to the arrival of police, was located on a UCAT Bus in the Town of Ulster and taken into custody and charged with assault and reckless endangerment, the chief said.

He is being held at the Ulster County Jail on $5,000 cash bail. An Order of Protection was issued by the court on behalf of the victim.
