Men Acquitted In Dutchess Community College Sexual Assault Case

Two men charged with sexually assaulting a Dutchess Community College student have been acquitted, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.

Tyler Bryant and Joel Abelardo Herrera, both of Yonkers, were found not guilty by a jury in Dutchess County Court, according to the Journal, which reported that the two had been accused of assaulting a 19-year-old female student on Fairview Avenue in Poughkeepsie on Sept. 18, 2015.

Bryant, who was arrested on Oct. 1, 2015, had faced a first-degree rape charge while Herrera – arrested five days later – faced a charge of first-degree criminal sexual act, according to the Journal.

Rene F. Hernandez, a third man accused in connection with the assault, was charged with first-degree rape on Oct. 6, 2015, according to the Journal, which reported that he later pleaded guilty to the charge.
