An estimated 100,000 gallons of untreated sewage flowed into the Hudson for over an hour on March 19 at approximately 2:15 p.m., according to the DEC.
Some communities in the Hudson Valley use water from the Hudson as a backup water supply, according to the agency.
Melting snow apparently caused the event, with the excess running water causing the overflow.
