Human Remains Discovered At Route 44/Route 55 Intersection

DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- Unidentified human remains were discovered Wednesday morning at the intersection of Route 44 and Route 55, Town of Poughkeepsie Police said.

The remains were recovered at around 10:15 a.m. near Arthur May School, prompting a heavy police response.

The Dutchess County Medical Examiner will conduct an Autopsy on Thursday.

The name of the deceased will be released pending confirmation of identity, and notification of the family., police said, noting that there is no reason to believe that there currently exists any public safety hazard in relation to the discovery.
