WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. -- Shoppers were out in force — some at the crack of dawn and others well before sunrise — in search of great deals at area stores for the phenomenon that has become Black Friday.

Deals of all kinds were to be found at most stores, and many exited stores toward parking lots with carts overflowing with Christmas gifts.

The Route 9 corridor proved to once again be a popular spot for shoppers from across Dutchess County as well as those from Putnam, as the Christmas shopping season began.
