Dutchess County Clerk Asks Residents To Renew License, Registration Locally

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Residents who need to renew their license or registration can do so at any local Department of Motor Vehicle office. But Dutchess County Clerk Brad Kendall said to skip the lines they can mail in the renewal notice.

Because Dutchess County receives 12.7 percent of each transaction, residents help keep local taxes down. Several years ago, the state took over renewals, costing the county more than $150,000 in lost revenue per year. Residents can help the county recapture that money by paying local.
