Dutchess Seeks Nominees For Senior Citizens Of The Year

DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- Dutchess County has begun its yearly search for the county's "Senior Citizens of the Year," for 2016, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.

The county said they are looking for nominations in the categories of Senior Male, Senior Female or the Senior Citizen Couple of the Year. 

If you know a senior citizen who should be recognized for contributions to the community, or a person or couple over age 60 with a strong dedication to volunteerism and civic involvement, the county'wants to know about them. 

Simply fill out a nomination form, available by calling 845-486-2555 or online here. Click on the Winter edition of the "Spotlight on Seniors;" the form is on page four.

All nominations are reviewed by a committee of the Advisory Board to the Office for the Aging which will make the final selection, the county said.

The awards are presented at the Celebration of Aging held each May in honor of Older Americans Month.
