Maui is battling non-cancerous brain tumors and is undergoing chemotherapy. She has lost permanent vision in her left eye. She joined the team Thursday.
Maui's mom, Sue, is an alumnus of Lourdes and works in the health office. Maui joining the team was made possible through the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation.
Maui will be invited to attend as many practices and games as she feels she can. The team gave her her own field hockey stick and jersey.
“Maui has so much energy and lights up the room. She matches so well with our program," coach Taryn Paggi said.
