McDonald's Debuts 'Create Your Own Burger' At Poughkeepsie Restaurant

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Diners at the Poughkeepsie Main Street McDonald's can become their own chefs by checking out the restaurant's new experimental program, "Create Your Own Burger," the first of its kind north of New York City.

Poughkeepsie Mayor Rob Rolison stopped by recently to create his own burger using the new interactive kiosk that allows diners to choose from a number of ingredients to create a burger to their liking.

The new system moves the restaurant into the upscale burger category by offering such choices as ciabatta and brioche buns, different meats (plus a vegetarian choice), a host of cheeses and such toppings as beetroot, tortilla, grilled pineapple, caramelized onions, chili jams and lime aiolli.

The kiosks are touch screen and even allow diners to pay with a credit card or Apple Pay. Once diners complete their orders, they are asked where they will be sitting so the burger can be delivered, yes delivered, to their table.
