Gatins, who lived in LaGrange while he attended Arlington High School and Vassar College, celebrates his birthday today.
The writer is best-known for his Academy Award-nominated screenplay for "Flight" and has also contributed scripts for "Need for Speed," "Real Steel," "Varsity Blues," "Summer Catch," "Coach Carter" and "Hardball."
His most recent screenplays are "Kong: Skull Island" and "Power Rangers," both due out next year.
Gatis also has a handful of acting credits, having appeared in "Varsity Blues," "Norbit," "Real Steel" and "Gods and Monsters."
