Family Friendly Barton Orchards Hosts First HV Balloon Festival

POUGHQUAG, N.Y. - Barton Orchards in Poughquag is the site for just about all 2016 Hudson Valley Hot Air Balloon Festival events this weekend, and most people we caught up with seemed to like the new venue because of its family-friendly atmosphere.

Daily Voice talks to festival guests about their thoughts on delayed launches, and the change in venue to Barton Orchards.

In recent years the festival launches have been held on the shores of the Hudson in Poughkeepsie. Last year near Shadow's on the Hudson, and prior years at the Hudson River Rowing Association Boathouse.

The weekend's first mass launch, scheduled for Friday afternoon, was canceled due to weather, but mass launches were also planned for 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Balloon rides, and tethered rides, are also available, weather permitting.
