Annex Florist Offers Fine Arrangements, Fresh Flowers In Dutchess

PAWLING, N.Y. -- The Annex Florist is one of the oldest businesses in the village of Pawling, providing area shoppers with a place to fill their floral needs for the last 38 years.

"We're probably the second oldest business in the village," owner Ed Mahaffey told Daily Voice recently, adding that he and wife, Mary, have been in the flower business for 48 years overall.

"The big thing is that you want to be personal - one-on-one," Mahaffey said. "I do not like the 'stamped out' look. Every arrangement is individually designed by Mary or myself."

The shop is not a part of a wire service. "Because I believe that arrangements should be individually crafted for the individual it's being done for," Mahaffey said. "That's what we take pride in."

The store also does lots of weddings - where the Mahaffey's work with the bride on an individual basis to make sure everything is exactly as it should be.

The Annex Florist is located at 28 Charles Colman Blvd, Pawling. The shop can be reached at 845-855-9612.
