The event is being organized by Bon Secours Community Hospital and will take place at 7 p.m. at Skinners Park in Port Jervis on Cole Street, directly across from the hospital, according to the Port Jervis Fire Department.

The vigil will honor Dan Aumick, who was struck by a vehicle just over a block away from the site of the gathering on Wednesday morning, April 2, as Daily Voice reported.

Aumick, a well-known figure in the community, was injured around 5:54 a.m. on Wednesday in the area of Jersey Avenue and East Main Street.

Members of the Port Jervis Fire Department, where Aumick has ties, have been invited to attend the vigil, along with the general public. In a message shared on social media, the department encouraged the community to “please keep Dan in your prayers.”

More information about the crash has not been released by police.
